Civic Engagement
At the Ethiopian Community Association in Nashville (ECAN), we believe that a strong community is one that is well-informed and actively participates. The goal of our Civic Engagement and Voter Empowerment program is to provide information about elections and to ensure that the voices of our community are heard.
በናሽቪል የኢትዮጵያውያን ማህበር (ኢማና) ጠንካራ ማህበረሰብ ማለት በቂ መረጃ ያለውና ንቁ ተሳትፎ የሚያደርግ ማህበረሰብ ነው ብለን እናምናለን። የእኛ ሲቪክ ተሳትፎ እና የመራጮች ማብቃት ፕሮግራም ዓላማው ስለምርጫ መረጃዎችን ማቅረብ እና የማህበረሰባችን ድምፅ እንዲሰማ ማድረግ ነው።

Voter Mobilization
This initiative focuses on increasing voter turnout by ensuring registered individuals have a clear voting plan and receive timely election reminders. We utilize diverse outreach tactics, including traditional door-to-door canvassing and phone banking, as well as digital ads, targeted texting via specialized apps, and community events. Additional technical resources and voter contact lists are available to support these efforts.
Voter Education
This component focuses on teaching our community why participating in elections matters. We partner with organizations to produce multilingual resources, and host online informational sessions. While all educational efforts remain strictly non-partisan, they will cover essential logistics such as locating polling stations, navigating the voting process, and applying for absentee ballots.
የመራጮች ምዝገባ
ጠንካራ ዲሞክራሲን መገንባት የሚጀምረው የመራጮችን ቁጥር በማሳደግ ነው። ኢማና መምረጥ የሚችሉ ብቁ ዜጎችን በመለየት፣ አስፈላጊ የሆኑ ግብዓቶችንና የምዝገባ ቁሳቁሶችን በማቅረብ፣ እንዲሁም በምርጫዎች ላይ ለመሳተፍ ሙሉ በሙሉ ዝግጁ እንዲሆኑ ምዝገባውን በማገዝ ይሰራል።
ከወገንተኝነት የጸዳ የመራጮች ትምህርት
በተለይ የቋንቋ ወይም የሌሎች ተደራሽነት እንቅፋቶች በሚኖሩበት ጊዜ የምርጫ ሂደቱን መረዳት ፈታኝ ሊሆን ይችላል። ኢማና ከማህበረሰቡ ባህል ጋር የሚስማሙ፣ በልዩ ልዩ ቋንቋዎች የተዘጋጁ የትምህርት ቁሳቁሶችን ያዘጋጃል፤ የበይነመረብ (virtual) የማስተማሪያ መድረኮችን ያካሂዳል። የምርጫ ጣቢያዎችን እንዴት መፈለግ እንደሚቻል፣ በደብዳቤ የመምረጫ (absentee ballot) ቅጽ እንዴት እንደሚጠየቅ፣ እና የግል የምርጫ እቅድ እንዴት እንደሚዘጋጅ ከማንኛውም ወገንተኝነት የጸዳ ወሳኝ መመሪያ እንሰጣለን።
